The first time I played Vice City I was real frustrated because I couldn't fly a helicopter. As I got more practice with the Maverick, I found doing the mission in a new game was extremely easy. tl;dr You need more practice. If you hate this mission then you're going to be doing the TOP FUN heli mission for an hour.

Flying a helicopter round Vice City 🏙. It's the water. It's too blue and not transparent enough. And it doesn't have sea effects that you can see from above like foam. Edit: Also to clarify - Helicopter movement is done by leaning the body. To move forward, you lean forward, and to go reverse you lean it back. The more you lean, the faster you go. Aircraft can be awkward to learn and it's very much ideal, if not using a controller, to have access to a full numberpad.
